All-Inclusive Resort Destinations

An all-inclusive resort can provide the ultimate stress-free vacation. The relaxation begins with budgeting, because the resort’s price will include ground transportation, accommodations, all meals and snacks, gratuities, sports and other activities, nightly entertainment, soft drinks and perhaps even beer, wine and mixed drinks. As on a cruise ship, you can expect to pay a bit extra for luxuries such as spa treatments, though some top-end resorts include those in the base price, too.

An all-inclusive resort also removes logistical headaches – you know, those "where to go, what to do, how to get there” discussions that can be so exhausting. Once you arrive, there’s really no need to leave – everything is right there.

All-inclusive resorts can be found around the world, but many are anchored by a tropical beach. The Caribbean offers lots of options for all-inclusive resort vacations: some of the region’s first were established in Jamaica, around the North Coast towns of Montego Bay (think championship golf courses with water views) and Ocho Rios (noted for beautiful waterfalls).

The Dominican Republic is also known for all-inclusive resorts, especially in the Punta Cana area. On the easternmost point of the island, Punta Cana is where the Atlantic and the Caribbean meet. There are lovely beaches with relatively shallow water for great swimming and snorkeling.

There’s a terrific selection of all-inclusive resorts along Mexico’s Riviera Maya, which begins just south of the vacation capital of Cancun. The turquoise waters cover one of the main attractions: a wonderful barrier reef that provides lots of opportunities to view colorful sea life.

If you’re looking for a vacation getaway for just you and your sweetheart, you can select an adults-only resort. There are also couples-only resorts that raise the romance level with features like beach cabanas and whirlpool tubs made just for two.

If you’re looking for a family vacation, many all-inclusives welcome adults and children alike. These resorts may offer day care, supervised kids’ pools and play spaces, kid-friendly dining and even special entertainment for the little ones.

If you worry that you may get restless in the confines of an all-inclusive resort, worry no more. The staff can arrange tours to places like the quieter South Coast of Jamaica; the ruins of the Mayan walled city at Tulum, Mexico; or the charming beach towns of the Dominican Republic.
